About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the virtual experience. The online programme was efficiently ran by the team, and completing the internship online allowed us to connect with a wide variety of EY employees from around the UK, which may not have happened in the office environment. Furthermore through Linkedin, we have been able to connect with fellow EY interns and share our experiences, which I have enjoyed doing. The virtual setting also allowed for a variety of different platforms, such as Microsoft teams and Menti.
The support provided by EY throughout the week has been phenomenal. We received sessions on mindfulness and well-being, allowing us to de-stress and relax. Furthermore the student recruitment team organising the internship were always on hand to answer any questions and queries and replied almost immediately. The guidance provided has been invaluable. My personal favourite was the session by Richie Ward on presentation skills. I also enjoyed the session on time management and received excellent tips and advice.
The skills and information I have learnt will in no doubt stand me in good stead for my future career. Every session was informative and contained advice and tips to get the most out of our degree and job. I found the session on professional qualifications to be particularly useful, as I come from a non-finance background.
The Company
The virtual experience was extremely well structured from start to finish. Each session neatly transitioned into the next, and each day was well organised. We would listen to guest speakers in the morning, before getting to engage with fellow interns in the afternoon, giving us a well-rounded online experience with EY.
I definitely feel that I have a good understanding of what a role at Tax would look like in EY. We were given the opportunity to connect with people from the office where we should have been working, which was an invaluable opportunity to ask questions and envisage what a role in EY entails.
Throughout the week there was a strong emphasis on culture within EY. Hearing from a wide variety of employees who all said similar comments about the culture definitely helped. It is clear that EY provides a welcoming and diverse environment for its employees and goes the extra mile to ensure employees are content.
The content delivered throughout the week was excellent and extremely relevant to the future career path that I wish to pursue. What made this internship unique was the dual focus on your role within the company and the company itself, allowing all interns to fully immerse themselves and enjoy the EY experience.
Everything Else
There were numerous opportunities for networking with EY employees, probably more so with the internship being virtual. We connected with employees at all levels around the UK. At the end of every session, employees offered the opportunity to email with any questions or connect with them on Linkedin, providing invaluable opportunities to network.
Unfortunately due to Covid-19 the opportunities for social events were minimal, however we were informed of webinars and online sessions, much of which are still in their infancy. It was made clear that EY have been extremely efficient in moving network/social opportunities to the online space, and we were informed of ways we can get involved.
Yes I would definitely recommend this virtual experience. It was extremely well organised and involved a variety of different sessions, allowing interns to get a feel for life for EY.
