About You
I found it very useful and insightful as I have had previously no experience within the sector of tax and find that I have benefitted massively from learning in greater depth about the industry and firm as a whole. I also have really appreciated the time and effort put into this virtual scheme and how the firm has adapted to the issue of COVID-19.
Within this virtual internship, I have felt very valued however I feel that it was difficult to interact with other interns as the experience is different to that than expected; however, the leaders of the internship have been very polite and kind to all interns and valued the time we made to put in and join the calls each day.
Again, due to the internship being a virtual experience, I feel like there was a miscommunication once or twice as we were given a case study and we weren't 100% sure what was required of us and if we were presenting this to the rest of the interns or not. However, the support we got was brilliant as the leaders of the internship were always quick to answer questions and acknowledged if something was difficult to understand.
I believe the skills and information received will help me progress into my career in the finance industry as I have previously had little knowledge. This has been very valuable to work with people from different universities and most of whom study different courses to me; it has been interesting to see different perspectives and how others think when in larger groups. The talks have additionally been very informative.
The Company
I believe the virtual internship was very well structured and very inclusive as it kept everyone busy throughout the day which has been very enjoyable. Though, if I could change one thing it would be to make it more interactive (i.e. more case studies to learn from and proactively take the opportunity to listen into firm-client calls to fully gauge what working at a Big 4 company would be like) although what was organized was very insightful!
Everyone has been so friendly and easy to talk to despite not being able to meet in person, additionally, the people in charge of running the program have been so patient with everyone and understanding of those that may not have sufficient wifi/laptop problems! This made the day more enjoyable and encouraged interns to speak as questions were always suggested.
worked hard to encourage us to learn more about the division we were put into
the internship allowed for us to learn about roles higher up within the firm and what to expect when entering EY.
the company culture is key to success and it was certainly understood by everyone that we spoke to and reiterated on how important it is.
it has allowed me to become sure of my future career path and I am excited to see where it will take me!
