    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the virtual internship and felt it ran seamlessly, given that this was the first virtual summer internship that EY has run. I very much enjoyed the various Learning and Development sessions such as presenting skills, diversity and inclusion, mindfulness and mediation etc. I found these sessions very informative and useful, and I will definitely be taking some of the tips i learnt into my final year of university and hopefully into my career in Assurance. Finally, I also enjoyed working on the case study, meeting with the client, and the final presentation,

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued during my time at EY's virtual internship. This is because EY proud themselves on putting their people first, and this was very evident from the Diversity and inclusiveness session that they ran. This outlined how they aim to increase their BME numbers within the firm and the several different campaigns and projects they run to help minorities progress into and within the business. Myself, being part of the BME group, found this very useful and reassuring.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • I was allocated a personal buddy within my group of 4 people. This was fantastic as I could interact with him and ask any questions or queries that I had, which I may not have been comfortable to do so amongst the whole internship group. As well as this, there were numerous networking sessions and opportunities which gave me a greater insight to EY and understand the different forms of support that EY has to offer.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel I have developed some very valuable skills such as being introduced to Microsoft Teams and having to take part in virtual meetings and learning how to share presentations through these applications. Furthermore, this virtual opportunity has allowed me to expand on my online network a great deal as I was able to meet people from all over EY, ranging from different departments, offices, and countries. All of the skills I gained will help me tremendously in my final year of university.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • The structure of the virtual experience was very well structured with a clear schedule for each day being released the previous day. The EY recruitment team were very well organized in ensuring everything ran seamlessly and did a great job overcoming technical issues, given that this was a virtual experience. Finally, I felt the length of the sessions was great as they weren't too long and there were also plenty of breaks to ensure we had some downtime in between the highly informative sessions to digest the content.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • The general atmosphere of the virtual experience was very welcoming as there were introduction and ice-breaker sessions every morning to start the day. All EY staff were also very polite and helpful throughout the internship and were always willing to accommodate any needs or answer any questions. Furthermore, I feel the quizzes on Mentimeter and Kahoot really improved the atmosphere too as it gave me a chance to share my opinion and get more involved with the informative sessions.
