The Role
I have on occasion struggled to find work to do resulting in wasted time, although it has given me time to study for external qualifications. The work has been varied and very interesting with a lot of time critical problem solving and working with customers.
Very comfortable within our local team, as our team is primarily based elsewhere i sometimes feel a bit alienated as i haven't worked with them as much
There are always other employees at hand to help out we need something explaining or help with working on something.
I found there were a lot of days where there was very little to do and some days when there was a lot to do... but those wre few and far between.
Although generally there was someone else working with me there were times where i was first point of call for setting something up or troubleshooting a time sensitive issue
the skills i have learnt in this placement are fantastic and far beyond what i have learnt through university
The Company
a very easy place to work, there are lots of ways to congratulate and recognise people with small awards that anyone can hand out. there is also an event in the office that happens once a month, might be a themed meal or turning a meeting room into a haloween fair. each quarter there are great place to work events where they throw big parties for all the employees which are really great fun
prior to starting the job i felt that i was left out of the loop a little until we actually started. we also had to find our own accomodation when relocating which was quite difficult when you didn't live close to swindon. while on the internship its been well organised as you become a member of your team and treated as a full time employee
i have been given the opportunity to take the CCNA as well training to use all the equipment that i had to work on during the placement
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare from home
i wouldn't be able to get a job back in swindon but potentially globally it would be possible
The Culture
there were events run by a sports and social team that were all very good so there was always something to take part in
relatively cheap to live and go out, the use of a car wasn't really needed
we only ever really went to one nightclub that was worth going to!
lots of sports clubs and trips to the theatre to take part in after work
