About You
I really enjoyed it- clearly a lot of thought and effort was put into the entire week and there was a conscious effort made to ensure that everybody felt engaged throughout the entirety of the programme. The student recruitment team were really lovely and helped with any issues with teams that anybody came across. I really don't have any complaints about the way the whole programme was carried out and if anything it exceeded expectations.
I felt really valued. Anybody who spoke with us made a point of saying we had done so well to have passed the interview to receive the internship in the first place and continued to mention how we could be valued members of the firm in future. This meant a lot to me as I felt I could really start to envision myself working there and their ethos of caring for people is so well demonstrated.
I have no complaints on the support end of things. As previously mentioned, the student recruitment team were always on hand to help with any technical difficulties and did not make it seem like a pain to do so. If any links did not work, they were swiftly resent, etc. Also in my personal experience when I struggled with teams on the first day- Laura replied straight away and helped me. Ten out of ten!
It definitely gave me an idea of the career path I want to follow. We were given lots of detail about the examination process, working hours, work/life balance and we got to speak with young graduates which was also a massive help. The talks by the EY L&D team were also really helpful about time management, presentation skills, prioritisation, etc and I was really impressed on how they managed to engage us for the full hour each time.
The Company
It was structured really well- there was a full and engaging timetable but it also wasn't so intense that I was ready to collapse by the end of the day. I liked that they put us in to small groups to do a case study because it gave us something to work on and interact with people in the same position, without it being a massive burden. I would definitely say they should go with this structure in future!
The atmosphere was good- it was refreshing to see how enthusiastic everybody was about the experience in general and this clearly reflects that EY make good decisions when selecting internship candidates. I didn't feel embarrassed to speak up or really get involved because everybody genuinely wanted to be there and make the most out of the experience. The menti check-ins were helpful for this also and the quiz that Kasia did on the last day was fun too.
