The Role
Great placement to get onto, chance to use your initiative and the chance to create your own role within a mulit national organisation.
We have around 60 interns which gives us a massive social scene, with the addition of colleagues treating you as employees rather than an 'intern.'
Couldn't ask for much more, a lot of independence to pursue my own projects with the aid of their experience and knowledge when needed.
Evidently it has its moment throughout the financial quarter. Overall, I was kept busy throughout my internship, but still managed to have a work life balance.
I'm given an unbelievable amount of responsiblity for finances and make decisions that have a big impact on the company's operations and/or processes.
Despite the cliche, I cannot put it into exact words how much you mature and have a different outlook on university on gaining an internship. Furthermore, Intel have enhanced this experience to gain relevant work experience and life skills.
The Company
Our department was very social, we all got onto and done social activites both in and out of office.
The start up is also very well structured, HR do a great job and assist with any queries or problems interns have.
They have free courses for personal development that I will take back as qualifications to universities. In addition, other courses are paid for if necesary such as Microsoft Office Advanced if the manager feels this is appropriate.

Depending on department, the economic environment and general availability it an range, with obviously a good candidate. But I wouldnt let this affect an applicants choice, an internship on its own is a door opener.
The Culture
Yes, they have two Sports and Social clubs. One in which Intel runs for events such as trips, subsidised events, great aspect of the job. Secondly the interns have their own (SAS) Sports and Social committee that organise events such as nights out and go to other cities across the UK and abroad.
Living in Swindon is pretty cheap when compared to other areas; it has Bath/Bristol/Oxford/Birmingham and even London within 90mins.
The social scene depends on what you make it. Having 60 student interns helps!
I got involved with volunteering as an ambassador of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) with Bloodhound SuperSonicCar. This enabled me to teach and englihten kids the fun aspect of STEM and its relevance to the Bloodhound SSC which aims to beat the world land speed record.
