About You
Experience was extremely enjoyable and filled with networking events, panel talks and learning workshops. While the event was fully virtual, the student recruit emend team made efforts to make is super interactive with lots of quizzes, Q&A sessions and opportunities to interact with other interns. We were also given a buddy during the week which meant that there was someone to go to for all our questions. The week just flew by and I met so many great people.
The student recruitment team was extremely helpful throughout the whole week. They helped with any technological issues, questions about recruitment and guiding us through the events. We also had a buddy allocated to each one of us and they were there to guide us through their experience on the graduate program and give us on what to expect. We also received workshops from members of different service lines which was extremely useful. Plenty of information and resources were provided as well.
The Company
The week was extremely well structured, each day was split into morning and afternoon sessions. Furthermore, we were given an agenda of the next day so that we could prepare and know what to expect. The student recruitment also planned in adequate breaks so that we were not strained and stuck to our screens. We always knew what we had to do and what to do next. Extremely well structured and helped the week fly past.
There was plenty of information to speak to different employees at the firm from partners to graduates. Some of the partners had spent more than a decade at the firm and the graduates had just been there for a few months. Gave us plenty of insights into how the graduate program is structured in terms of client work and professional qualifications if we were to join. Got a great insight into what it is like to work at EY, both the client work and side-of-desk initiatives.
We got a lot of insight into what EY values in their people and the work that they do. Speaking to individuals from the mental health and diversity team really gave us a flavor of what working at EY would be like. It was great to also see specific goals that EY has set itself in terms of representing ethnic minorities in their workforce across the UK and global offices. Was really great to hear that EY really cares about their employees and their well-being.
Everything Else
We learnt so much about both the client work and side-of-desk initiatives at EY. We learnt about the multiple networks and communities at EY and how there is something for everyone. We also heard about all the great work which is taking place with the EY foundation. It is heartening to be able to help shape the life of so many young minds around the UK. Furthermore, we also understood the emphasis that EY places on mental, physical and social wellbeing.
Would recommend applying for this program for anyone considering a role in consulting. Got a great overview into what consulting at EY looks like as well as the multiple different teams that you can join. The networking opportunities are also something that can not be overstated. It is extremely useful to be able to make connections with other people in the business and understand their journeys. Was extremely fun as well and had a great time!
