About You
I thought it gave me a fantastic insight into the culture of EY and how it operates, as well as teaching me some incredibly valuable soft and hard skills applicable to almost any environment that I did not previously have. I was given a case study to work on in a team which helped me understand the role at EY and gave me valuable experience to reference in an interview. The attention given to personal development impressed me and was also very valuable.
It was difficult for them to provide a 'personal' experience over Teams meetings, but there were good opportunities for interaction and to ask questions to all of the speakers. The use of tools such as the chatbox and Mentimeter to gauge the interns' emotions, feelings and opinions was a really nice touch which added a sense of connection.
It has felt easy to get in touch for any help or extra questions during the experience regarding technical or other difficulties. However, a lot of the time some questions (relating to something a speaker was informing us on) in the chatbox were left unanswered due to the volume of them relative to how much time was allocated to a speaker. It was, though, fairly clear how to get in touch via LinkedIn with a speaker if there were questions which remained unanswered.
The soft and hard skills gained should be incredibly useful in my professional endeavours post-uni. Talks such as presentation skills covered things like first impressions which seems like something I can use for the rest of my life!
The Company
I was very impressed with the planning of the experience, with an agenda for the following day shown at the end of each day. Each speaker was ready to contribute and used their time well. Seamless!
Everyone was so helpful - everyone at EY and my fellow interns were a pleasure to interact with, and the emphasis on health and personal development surprised and impressed me! The talks were so informative and the case study sessions were so engaging. Laura, who often gave us directions as to which call to be on and opened and closed each day, as well as most of the speakers, interacted and checked how we were feeling as well as asking things like what we were doing that evening which made it such a comfortable experience.
They looked to give us the most we could take from the week and they got many different speakers to inform us on their specialisms and interests.
The culture at EY and the role were excellently communicated using a case study project and talks from a variety of speakers.
So much! Many speakers spoke on things like diversity and inclusion and their and the company's attitude to various issues.
It certainly gave me an insight into audit and how it differs from other service lines, as well as talking about the best paths for certain careers.
Everything Else
We took part in a case study where we worked in groups, and had contact with mentors who worked in different positions in Assurance.
Can't do tonnes over Teams but encountered some EY employees who we could then add on LinkedIn if needed.
Yes, lots of detail given on this, inc. work-life balance and social events etc.
So informative, engaging and fun. Anyone could gain a lot from this!
