    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • Provided a useful insight into the role and the company as a whole. at times some of the activities were a bit too boring or unnecessary and they felt like they were just to fill time. However, a lot of activities were enjoyable and the opportunity to be able to speak to other candidates and meet employees was both enjoyable and useful. the experience definitely made me feel like I would be able to have en enjoyable time working full time.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • All there was some engagement with existing employees at the firm I do not believe there was enough in order to feel like you were truly valued. More opportunities to speak to high level staff directly would most likely have made me feel more valued. They do however, encourage engagement through all the activities and were always willing to answer questions at any point, which certainly did make you feel valued. Overall i felt quite valued.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • There was a solid level of guidance and support through the entire experience. the employees that we were able to speak to always encouraged to reach out further to them, even outside of the allocated time when we were meeting them. the Response times were very good and the useful of those responses was also good, whether that was to do with technical problems, the role, the company or pretty much any other general inquiries you had.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • the skills the experience helped developed are surprisingly useful for both my degree and beyond. there were for example learning sessions on presentation, which proved to be much more insightful than i expected them to be. occasionally, though the skills there were trying to teach were too basic to be of much use. for example, the learning sessions on diversity and inclusion, were perhaps not as useful to myself, but maybe other people would have found it useful.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • considering the experience was all done online I would say that it was well structured. the experience made use of digital technologies that were all relatively easy to utilise and so I did not have difficulty in trying to work out what I had to do. there were however some periods during the experiences, were the breaks were longer than they really needed to be and it would have been useful to use the time to speak to more employees.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • i found the atmosphere to be really positive. everyone involved in the program was in good spirits, whether that was the HR team, employees, partners, but also even the other applicants. i do not think they could have tone much to improve the experience in this respect, as it was a very open atmosphere, that encouraged me to get involved and made me want to take part in the variety of activities the the experience offered.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • considering the circumstance of covid-19 and the fact that other professional services, such as those at the big four, completely removed their summer internships, i felt the company definitely did try their best to invest in me. having so many different speakers, showed that the company really tried hard to ensure I gained something from the experience and I think that was the case. perhaps some of the training sessions were not that useful .

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • this was quite a strong point fo the experience, because of the different number of employees that were used to express their thoughts on the role and how they enjoyed it. however, perhaps there could have been more activities that involved actually doing what I would be doing in the role, in order for me to understand if the work I will be doing is actually interesting. otherwise it was fairly helpful on the whole.

  • 9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?
  • the experience certainly did help me understand the company culture- it made me realise how much the company truly does invest into its people. It also made me realise that company is very open to people coming from a variety of background, which was showcase by the fact that so many of the people I met had different life experiences and stories. being able to talk to these people was also useful in understanding the culture.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • being able to speak to people about their roles and and were they were planning to go in their careers, definitely helped me realise what I may want to do in the future. however, maybe the fact that I did not do that many tasks which I would do in the role, did not help me realise if this truly is the right career path for me. it did however, help me realise about where this career could take me.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid for the experience, which I though was very kind of the firm, due to how relaxed the programme was and that it was not stressful at all. It was also especially good, because of the circumstances of covid-19 and so being able to earn a little bit during these times was really nice. perhaps it would have been nice to do more tasks that would help the firm and therefore be abel to be payed more.
