The Role
It was stressful and busy, but I couldn't recommend it enough! You learn so much in a short space of time, and its a great way to get to know the industry.
Everyone on our rotations was extremely accomodating, and the atmosphere at RBS is very relaxed and friendly.
We were encouraged to ask questions and the managers/supervisors understood that it was a lot of information to learn in a short space of time, so they went at a perfect pace!
There was no time stood around - everything was well scheduled with plenty of opportunity for breaks if we needed them.
It is an insights week, and so it is mostly shadowing of others mixed with skills workshops. However, networking drinks enabled us to test our skills and so I had more opportunity to exercise what I had learnt during the week than I thought I would
There is very much an emphasis on transferable skills, and the assessment centre preparation and feedback are very valuable for the future
The Company
Very relaxed and informal - as long as you get the job done, you are free to be as flexible as you need to be!
Everything was scheduled for us, so we knew exactly what we were doing, and when.
I was surprised at the amount of investment that RBS put into their week-long internships! I felt as though people were taking valuable time from their work to help us, which was excellent.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
I am awaiting the results of the assessment centre held on the final day of the insight week - fingers crossed!
The Culture
We blended really well as a group and I hope we are all reunited next summer - it's fantastic to meet like-minded people
Manchester is reasonable, but Spinningfields (where the offices are) i quite pricey! RBS provided a lot over the week though.
One of my favourite club chains was right aroud the corner, and the Alchemist, where networking drinks were held, is excellent, if a little expensive.
There's a real community atmosphere to RBS!
