    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was stressful and busy, but I couldn't recommend it enough! You learn so much in a short space of time, and its a great way to get to know the industry.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone on our rotations was extremely accomodating, and the atmosphere at RBS is very relaxed and friendly.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We were encouraged to ask questions and the managers/supervisors understood that it was a lot of information to learn in a short space of time, so they went at a perfect pace!

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was no time stood around - everything was well scheduled with plenty of opportunity for breaks if we needed them.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • It is an insights week, and so it is mostly shadowing of others mixed with skills workshops. However, networking drinks enabled us to test our skills and so I had more opportunity to exercise what I had learnt during the week than I thought I would

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There is very much an emphasis on transferable skills, and the assessment centre preparation and feedback are very valuable for the future

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very relaxed and informal - as long as you get the job done, you are free to be as flexible as you need to be!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything was scheduled for us, so we knew exactly what we were doing, and when.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was surprised at the amount of investment that RBS put into their week-long internships! I felt as though people were taking valuable time from their work to help us, which was excellent.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am awaiting the results of the assessment centre held on the final day of the insight week - fingers crossed!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We blended really well as a group and I hope we are all reunited next summer - it's fantastic to meet like-minded people

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Manchester is reasonable, but Spinningfields (where the offices are) i quite pricey! RBS provided a lot over the week though.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • One of my favourite club chains was right aroud the corner, and the Alchemist, where networking drinks were held, is excellent, if a little expensive.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There's a real community atmosphere to RBS!

    5/5
