About You
The insight week was really enjoyable and gave a very deep overview of Bloomberg and its different departments. While it was very educational with many technical skills introduced, particularly with regards to the use of the Bloomberg Terminal, it was also fun, which is usually hard to achieve in a virtual setting. The fact that everyone was really friendly as well added to that too. Great atmosphere, great support, you learn a lot of new things and overall a really good experience.
It felt that the team put a lot of effort into making sure that the insight week was beneficial to each and every person. It was obvious that a lot of effort went into making that happen especially given the remote nature of the insight week with people across many different time-zones. I definitely felt I could bring up any problem I had whether it be a technical problem or random financial question and would be keenly answered.
The organizers were keen to help whenever necessary and in fact, really encouraged people to ask questions. It was ensured that you could always find the support, especially with the technical stuff, no matter how small the questions were. This was crucial given the little Bloomberg Terminal knowledge one would have before the insight week and ensures you get the maximum benefit by the end of the week.
Given I'm interested in the intersection between AI and finance, the insight week gave me a much clearer understanding of what areas to pursue and focus on in my studies. It also gave me an opportunity to practice some of the skills I'd already learned seeing how they work in a practical setting. Using the Bloomberg Terminal was also really helpful and building the skills to use it was really important especially given the usual difficult access to it.
The Company
The insight was very well structured. Even though it was remote, all technical issues were handled really well which made things go really smoothly. The structure was very logical in that each day built upon the previous day. Activities were dotted throughout the week in order to keep it interactive in a virtual environment. Small fun quizes also meant you always stay focused.
It was very friendly. It felt that the organizers genuinely wanted to help everyone and were readily accessible to contact after core presentation hours. Everyone was really friendly as well, from both the Bloomberg organizing team as well as all the other insighters. This friendly and fun atmosphere was also really encouraged throughout the week.
You are offered a month trial of the Bloomberg Terminal which is usually 2K+ a month and difficult to access. This allows you to develop skills that are crucial to the financial industry and the level of insight of the terminal offered is impossible to obtain anywhere else.
The various career paths in the firm are covered extensively and it shown how mobile moving within Bloomberg is. It helps you in showing that you can structure your own path within the company.
Company culture is obvious throughout not just the presentations but interactions with everyone at Bloomberg. They really do embody the firm's principles.
Definitely made me sure that a career in Fintech is something I want to pursue and given the culture at Bloomberg, it becomes a top choice.
Everything Else
A lot of networking opportunities are offered. Given you are exposed to like 40+ employees over the week that are happy to connect afterwards to answer any questions and many other insighters.
Given the virtual environment, it was hard to have truly social opportunities. But still there were a lot of fun activities planned and all presentations were done in a very interactive way as well as purely fun social sessions.
Employees are happy to share about the many activities they personally get involved with as well as presentations are given about this given the focus of Bloomberg on charitable activities even outside work.
Definitely. Very insightful and was very obvious that Bloomberg is greatly invested in the insight week.
