About You
Very enjoyable, had a good time understanding concepts and going into details for roles and opportunities at the firm. Whilst online they managed to make it very interactive as there were plenty of opportunities to ask questions and interact with the speakers. Also we had the opportunity to complete exercises and also work in a team which allowed us to experience the true culture of Bloomberg even though the experience was virtual. FInally, those running the program were very helpful.
The opportunities to join the Q&A sessions and interact in the exercises allowed each of us to be valued as part of the internship and also part of the firm for the time. The presenters also took their time to explain concepts and answer questions which meant thiose taking part felt their view and intereste were valued more and involved in the conversation. The last day we also had the chance to presernt our own project which was another chance to have our opinions heard.
Those running the internship were available through a chat function through every day of the week. They would answer all questions we had and also ask around to make sure everyone is doing okay and enjoying them selves. There was also plenty of support in terms of technical issues which is an important factor for a virtual experience. There was a strong system in place to counteract any issues or connectivity problems. Finally, staff were reachable easily through a chat function.
This has allowed me to develop both in a personal and a professional way for both my academic and future career. The week has allowed me to understand the financial markets better as well as the technology that is driving it. This will allow me to understand academic concepts better and apply them to real-world examples. It has also helped me in terms of my career as I am expecting to be using the Bloomberg terminal in the future one way or another and having this opportunity has really allowed me to develop the skills needed for the terminal.
The Company
The structure was excellent. There was an ideal amount of time for presentations lasting about 1 hour 1.5 hours which was enough to understand concepts as well as ask questions. The exercises were also timed perfectly so that there is enough competition but not too fast. There was also sufficient breaks through out the day which allowed us to refersh and get ready for the upcoming session which helped with engagement and focus. Finaly the Q&A sessions at the end of the day helped us ask any questions we developed on the day.
It was very friendly, everyone had a mindset of being approachable and helpful which was mainly set by those running the event. By the end of the week, I think I learned that an atmosphere where teamwork and approachability are encouraged will allow the end result to be much better. This atmosphere also allowed us to experience the Bloomberg culture even though the event was virtual which was a great way of experiencing the core values of the firm.
The company invested a significant amount into the interns by providing plenty of opportunities to ask questions and communicated with those working in several roles. They also allowed us to experience some of the roles through exercises which allowed us to gain a first-hand insight into what it is like working in that role and also at Bloomberg. Some exercises were competitive as there was a prize which was also a significant investment Bloomberg has made in order to retain interest.
The exercises that allowed us to try the different roles was a first-hand insight into the firm and the availability of the opportunities in that role. The project also allowed us to experience teamwork for a relevant topic which was a realisitc approach to what the roles in the company entail. The assesssment at the end allowed us to gain feedbacka and see exactly what we can develop for when we do end up working full time at a company.
The ability to interact with speakers at the end of their presentations, at the Q & A sessions and the chat function has allowed us to understand the teamwork spirit the company has and the mindset that everyone follows at Bloomberg. Throughout the week as we experienced the different speakers the interns started to share these values with each other being very approachable and interactive to each other which was a great result considering the event was online.
The Session went into detailed explanation into the exact tasks each role entails and the lifestyle it comes with. It allowed me to identify exactly which division i would be able to add value and enjoy working in. The interactive exercises were also able to stimulate interests and see first hand what the day to day life in that job is. Finally, the question sessions let us get into the details of any parts of the role to understand what we'd enjoy doing.
