The Role
This was a great placement with so many opportunities to grow and develop. Your team are super supportive and always try to put you in the best positions to learn and enhance your skills. I know when I leave I’ll have lots to talk about in future interviews.
My colleagues across the whole department as well as other business areas were all extremely welcoming and made me feel very valued. I have had casual conversations with board members whilst waiting for coffee at the Kombi Caf and even they have made me feel welcomed. I have never felt out of place or treated like less because I was an undergrad.
My manager set up weekly 1-2-1s with me to check in on my progress and whether I ever needed anything during my time here. She also gave me the freedom to take on projects and execute them at my own pace and in my own way without constant supervision but I knew she was there to support me should I need it. There is also good support outside of daily work activities in regards to Mental Health and Well-being as well as access to mental health first aiders across the business.
Perfect balance. There was always lots to do and as an undergrad you play an important role in the team, if I ever had quiet periods I was able to lean on my team to give me extra work and if I was particularly busy they were very supportive in taking some of my workload and helping me out too.
There is a great deal of trust shown where you are given the tools to carry out the tasks needed and are offered the support to do this to a high standard as and when you need to lean on the team.
I have experienced an immense level of personal growth during my time here and have been able to gain and enhance so many of my soft skills as well as role specific skills. I know these will all be used in my future studies and career.
The Company
everyone is super friendly and helpful and it’s a very positive working environment
there was a scheduled timeline for things I was set to do each month during my placement as well as monthly life skills sessions to further develop my skills during my time here
There were monthly life skills sessions which were designed specifically for the early careers cohort that were extremely beneficial. These included both external and internal courses on things such as presentation skills workshops, advanced Excel workshops, Tax Codes, CV and Interview skills, building your LinkedIn presence workshops etc
