The Role
Great activities/events, good atmosphere in the office, supportive HR and overall a really useful insight into working in the industry (the smaller size of the office compared to some competitor firms means you get a more intimate experience).
Very much so. The size of the office means you can make a bigger impact within the department, and meet the whole team. I was thanked and given the opportunity to discuss the wider picture after completing each task.
Excellent support - from HR, the trainees and the supervisors within the department. Trainees and supervisors often took people to lunch, and HR were always present and willing to talk through any concerns.
Both departments were busy, but the experience is often what you make of it - they encourage you to be proactive and get stuck in within the department.
I was given a high-priority task at short notice.
More beneficial than any other work experience I have done - both in terms of learning about working as a corporate lawyer, and developing on a personal level.
The Company
Not oppressive like some other firms; bright, collegiate and lively.
Good timetable of events - gave you enough time to complete tasks and spend time in your department, but also squeezed in a trip to Paris (!) and other treats.
Plenty of informative talks from partners and other members of the firm, during which we were given some really good advice.
I do not think they recruit heavily from the vacation scheme.
The Culture
Everyone got on really well, and some after-work drinks were arranged.
Expensive living. Eating in the cafeteria was very affordable however (great food too).
Fantastic - right by Spitalfields, Brick Lane etc
It's a work experience placement, so this was not the focus. There were many networking opportunities and social events though.
