The Role
I really enjoyed the placement. Everyone was friendly and informative, and I got a lot out of the experience. The only downside was that it was virtual, so the experience was limited.
I felt valued as my work was often featured in group calls and documents, but did also feel like I could have been integrated slightly more. This would have been easier had there been another 3 weeks of the internship.
Very good support and guidance, with exceptional support from HR.
Most of the time I felt fairly occupied. Even when I didn't have an individual task there was a chance to speak to someone in a different team and gain some insight. Only felt a little bored at the very end.
I had a fair amount of responsibility that I felt comfortable with. I was happy with the balance between listening and learning versus actual hands on work.
I definitely developed my skills in finance, excel and virtual communication in a work environment. Although I am not a finance student, I will definitely take these skills forward in my degree.
The Company
Very appealing- it was a pleasure to intern at M&G for 5 weeks and all of the permanent employees appear extremely well-rounded and happy.
The Culture
As good as possible given it was a virtual internship and many of us lived very far away from one another.
London has an excellent nightlife but given COVID-19 I remained at home.
We were given insight to the sports clubs and informal chat rooms.
