The Role
I really enjoyed my placement at ProsepctSoft. I felt I learned a lot during the year that was both valuable to my personal and career growth. I enjoyed the work and who I got to work with.
I felt very valued by my colleagues. You get given a lot of responsibility and are encouraged to share your ideas. It was nice to work in an enviornment where you can collaborate with people in different teams to contribute to a goal.
My manager was very helpful and supportive throughout my placement. I felt I was given a good amount of guidance and could always ask for help if I needed. We also had reviews throughout the year to ensure that I was getting the most out of the placement which was very useful.
There was always something to do, so you were never left idle. It was good working in a fast paced environment. You are given a good amount of responsibility so are encouraged to use your own initiative to see what other work needs to be done.
I was given a good amount of responsibility during my placement. I got to manage my own projects for customers and communicate with them 1-1 which was a good experience. Being gived this responsisbility really helped me in building confidence when speaking to customers and otherwise.
The skills I learned on my placement will be very useful for going back to university next year and also for any of my future work prospects. On placement you learn a lot of soft-skills that are very useful to take into whichever career field you would like in the future.
The Company
The office always had a very friendly, positive and welcoming atmosphere. ProspectSoft has been a great company to complete my placement year at. Everyone is always very nice and willing to help. There is a good sense of community that makes the work enviornment very enjoyable.
The placement began with a month of training where we learned about how all the departments work and we got to meet everyone from the different teams. This was a great way for the placement to start, and throughout the year you have reviews with your manager to make sure you’re getting the most of the placement. I feel that the organisation of the placement being done well really helped in ensuring we recieved the most out of it.
I think the training month really helped to give a good foundation for the personal and training development you achieve throughout the year. Regular reviews also helped to make sure you were getting the most out of your placement and that you were maximising your ability.
Company Parties/Events
Very. A large proportion of the current staff were placements. The company really values their placements and there are good future employment prospects. Many of the managers of different departments were also placements, so there are various roles you can go back into.
The Culture
There were regular social gatherings in all the different departments and company wide e.g. Christmas party, Beer Fridays and regular meals out after work. The social scene was good, Beer Fridays were always a great way to catch-up with everyone at the end of the week.
