The Role
Overall I had a very good experience. Obviously there is room for improvement but I found my role very enjoyable. I was given a task to compete with a team and we were given freedom to choose what we did with it. There were times when the work was a bit boring and there was loads of admin to do but all roles are like this. I really feel like I was given the chance to shine.
My colleages really valued our input. Every time we said something it was listened too and taken into consideration. Space was always made for us to add out input and at times it was even sought after. Our time was also valued. Whenver anyone had a meeting with us they were normally on time or if they were late it was only by a couple of minutes and they were very apologetic. It was a very good environment to be in.
My manager was amazing. He encouraged us to come to him with questions and always made sure we understood the work we were doing. He was friendly and approachable and did the best to help us succeed. Every morning he made space for us to ask him questions and if he didnt know the answer he would be honest with us about it and then go and research the answer for us. We couldn't have finished the project with out him.
There was pleanty of work to do but we had to create it. With the freedom we had we had to decide and prioritise what we have to do. With this it meant that some days were busier than others and as we were getting towards the end of the project we were running out of things to do.
It was our own project and we all got to decide what we were doing.
It has deffinatly helped me. It is helping me choose my courses next year and it helped me see what areas we enjoy.
The Company
Even though the internship was virtual we did manage to get a sense of what the office would have been like. Everyone was relaxed and approachable.
I think it being virtual had some difficulties with this. Some of the events couldn't go ahead as planned and there were some technical difficulties.
I felt like I was really invested in. I was sent a laptop to work on and my pay didnt change despite the internship being online.
Working from home
I would love to work here again. I loved the work, the atmoshpere and the people.
The Culture
Social scene was hard with the internship being virtual but I did get along well with my colleagues.
It was all online
It was online.
Not really.
