About You
The virtual experience was extremely enjoyable! A great company to work for with amazing and engaging projects! It was really insightful as we were given the opportunity to meet a lot of people in the business.
The project managers were keen to hear our ideas and extremely valued our interest and input into the organisation. I was recognised for my ideas and was communicated with consistently which made me feel really important and valued at Tesco.
This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions the Programme leaders were extremely supportive and were always there if we needed any help with the systems or even if we wanted to call about our projects. Also, the project leaders provided great guidance by arranging virtual meetings with all different colleagues around the business for them to share their experiences and expertise so that we could gain as much insight as possible during our 6 week virtual internship!
With this experience being virtual, I have most definitely gained confidence in communicating and organising meetings virtually. Also, meeting people from different sectors of the business and those in senior positions has given me a great insight into the opportunities that Tesco holds.
The Company
Extremely well. Every week we had a learning session, group activities, an opportunity to meet the executives, project meetings and independent project time. We were given a real insight into the business during the 6 weeks and felt extremely supported by the team.
One of the main things that makes Tesco a great place to work is the culture. Everyone is so friendly, welcoming and approachable which made the internship great fun with all the activities involved.
Tesco enabled us access to all the training and learning resources which we could enrol ourselves in throughout the 6 weeks. They were all beneficial to my personal development and understanding how a big organisation operates and manages their employees.
Working closely with the project managers gave me a great insight into how their daily/weekly schedules work. The work is fast-paced yet extremely enjoyable so a full time role at Tesco seems extremely engaging and compelling.
This experience really enabled me to understand the great company culture as everyone was extremely approachable and friendly and really made you feel welcome and part of the business.
One of the great things that Tesco offer is learning resources which helped me identify my personal strengths and skills set which most definitely has steered me in a direction where I have found a great passion!
Everything Else
There were loads of opportunities to meet employees from all around the business [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] who run the internship assisted me greatly in contacting and networking with employees in the sector that I am interested in.
There were virtual coffee roulette sessions organised for every Friday which gave us interns the opportunity to meet each other in smaller groups so that we were able to get to know each other more.
I was not made fully aware of all activities due to the current situation with COVID pandemic. However, I am aware of the facilities that Tesco have e.g. gym, tennis courts etc.
I would absolutely recommend this virtual experience as it was extremely organised and insightful. The culture at Tesco is great and the people you will meet will be extremely beneficial to your personal development and future career.
