The Role
Given the current environment, Barclays and the early careers team done an extremely good job in ensuring the interns were actively engaged on a daily basis which allowed me to thoroughly enjoy the internship through an interesting experience.
Line-manager, senior manager and director all kept me in the loop when it came to tasks, making me feel valued.
Given the virtual nature of the internship, it could've been easy to provide no guidance however that was not the case as my managers done well in providing guidance and support for me throughout my time on the internship. This wasn't only limited to managers but other members of my team.
Given the virtual nature, there was an added task load, which is the given consensus in this current time with workers everywhere reporting that they have experienced a greater workload due to working from home.
I was personally responsible for my own work and ensuring projects and tasks met deadlines.
Training on technical packages as well as markets will allow me a solid platform to hit the ground running wherever I go next.
The Company
N/A as it was a virtual internship
Careers team done a very good job in ensuring interns were set up within the first week and there was clear guidelines on what we'd be doing.
Compulsory and olunteering opportunities were both available to develop technical and soft skills. These illustrated the extent to which Barclays invests in you and want you to invest in yourself.
Financial Bonus
Internal mobility and ability to move up the corporate ladder acts as standout factors for Barclays as an employer.
The Culture
N/A due to the virtual nature of the internship, this was fairly limited.
N/A due to the virtual nature of the internship.
N/A due to the virtual nature of the internship.
N/A due to the virtual nature of the internship however there were still extracurricular networks such as the Christian Professional forum and Black Professionals Forum which welcomed me.
