The Role
I really enjoyed it. Everyone at the FCA was really friendly and always up for having a virtual coffee chat. Moreover, we received high-quality training throughout. The only disadvantage was that it was very difficult to meet fellow interns in a virtual environment, but that is not the fault of the FCA.
I feel very valued. I was given individual projects to work on that I knew would become part of final publications. This level of responsibility made me feel that my skill were respected despite this being my first professional work experience.
I was given regular 1:1s with my line manager. They provided very useful feedback and encouragement. I always felt supported. When they were on holiday they made arrangements for other members of the team to check in with me.
Busy - either working on projects individually, participating in training, having virtual coffees or listening to meetings. However, I could always finish at 5.
I had responsibility for my own projects and felt trusted to deliver high-quality work.
They will help me to analyse data and write reports in a non-academic environment, network, present my ideas in meetings and work in professional teams.
The Company
The virtual office was very friendly and welcoming.
Very impressively organised considering the COVID situation.
They provided lots of online training and time to complete a useful community project. I really felt that they were investing in me.
Working from home
Very appealing - a good salary, a free masters, a rewarding role.
