The Role
I really enjoyed my placement year. The role was very interesting and the people i worked with made the experience both valuable and enjoyable.
Everyone made me feel welcome and I felt as valued as any other member of the team - not just as the student.
My manager and colleagues were always there to offer help and support when i needed it.
One of my favourite things about the role was that it varied so that every day was different. This meant that some days were busier than others, but there was always enough work to keep me busy and if I ever felt I had too much then people would always be willing to help.
I was given lots of responsibility and trusted to complete tasks individually.
The placement year has taught me invaluable skills and knowledge that will help me complete my studies. In particular, it has improved my confidence and communication skills which will definitely help me to participate in lecture and seminar discussions in my final year. I have also developed my IT skills through using software like SAP and Adobe Indesign which may help me in future jobs. It has given me a real insight into how business and marketing theories are applied in business situations.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was always positive and friendly which made it enjoyable. There were quizzes every lunch time which allowed everyone to connect on a social level.
The placement is very well organised. There is a 2 week handover with the previous placement student when you first start, which really helps to settle in and learn the role by watching them before having a go yourself. There is a clear list of daily, weekly and monthly duties and any projects are well organised.
After the 2 week handover, my colleagues continued to help me develop and fully understand my role. They were always eager to help me improve throughout the year and assisted me with my uni work where necessary.

I would definitely consider working for the company again if the opportunity arose as i have had a great experience.
The Culture
There were social events organised for Christmas, Birthdays and people leaving. These were often in Chester and were a really fun way to get to know colleagues and the other placement students in a different environment.
The cost of living in Wrexham is cheap compared to a lot of places. However, i only live a 30 minute drive away so i lived at home which was ideal for me. All of our social events were in Chester, which is slightly more expensive but also has more to offer.
I have never actually been on a night out in Wrexham as all of our social events took place in Chester but i have heard its a good laugh and very cheap! Chester has a really good nightlife with a number of pubs, bars and clubs to choose from. We also went for day drinks in Liverpool to celebrate my birthday.
As well as the social events, many people participated in the 5 a side football games held every Wednesday after work and a couple also go running around the Industrial estate once a week.
