The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed me placement. Though the department I worked is wasn't what I expected I really enjoyed the work and the company really invested in my personal and professional development.
I felt like a valued member of the team and my contributions were always acknowledged. I sometimes would of liked more responsibility.
All of the colleagues were supportive, not just my manager but everyone on site. There is a great culture around the Undergraduate community throughout the site.
Fluctuated, sometimes I was super busy and other times it was quiet.
The projects are often very long so its hard to give sole responsibility to somebody who will not be present for its entirety. Towards the end of the placement I definitely was given more responsibility and there is a lot of training initially.
All the skills I can use in my degree. I used a totally different way of learning and perspectives. And was delivered training for skills that I didn't use day to day in my job but were definitely useful for my own personal professional development.
The Company
Really welcoming atmosphere. Certain days are quiet due to the option for permanent colleagues to work from home
Very well organised.
Invested a lot, but some departments invested more. We got given many optional trainings sessions.
Flexi Time
Working from home
Opportunity to be on the grad scheme but the number of positions are few. Some students do return to permanent positions external to the grad scheme.
The Culture
Really good community.
Quite expensive
Normally travelled to other areas for nightlife
Many opportunities provided that you looked for them. Sometimes would have to organise them too but the managers supported students in getting involved
