The Role
The large number of placement students makes for a good community.
During my placement year my entire team changed, meaning that I was valued as the longest serving member of the team by their replacements.
My manager was very supportive when I asked for assistance.
My role was mainly comprised of daily tasks meaning I had a steady workflow each day. This increased somewhat when we were short staffed.
At the start of my year I didn't have too much responsibility, however I was put in charge of a few important tasks such as Key Performance Indicators by Christmas.
analytical skills and professionalism There was no training/qualifications offered on this placement.
The Company
Heavily dependant on the staff. Very lively for a few months but because of the rapid turn over of staff, the environment changes a lot.
Faurecia handle a lot of placement students so the year is very well structured.
There was no development beyond actually performing the job. This may differ in more standard years.
Sports and Social Club
Graduate Scheme - Good opportunity for further development, but does contractually obligate you to the company for a while. VIE - Great opportunity to work abroad. Both of the above require a placement year to be completed.
The Culture
My year there was however this is entirely dependant on your cohort.
Depends, Lichfield is close and expensive, burton is far and cheap.
Fradley is near Birmingham, but getting to and from the city is difficult and expensive.
There was a running club after work on a Tuesday and Thursday.
