About You
Overall, this was a great experience. My team were so welcoming and I learned so much about the company and my job role.
I was the lead on my own project and I feel like the work I was doing had the potential to impact the company.
My Manager and Buddy were available every time I needed them, as were other members of the team. I never felt like I was alone during the project.
Prior to this internship, I had done very little analytics. However, I have left EG with the ability to use SQL Workbench, Python and Jupyter notebooks to analyse and visualise data. I was also given the opportunity to improve my presentation skills.
The Company
Despite not being in the office, I never felt like I was left alone since the recruitment team organised weekly learning series, socials and leadership meetings. During the first week we received technical training, and after that we focuses on our own projects with our respective teams. The internship concluded with a final presentation where we got to showcase our work to other employees.
I always felt comfortable asking questions to any member of my team. My manager and buddy would regularly check in to ensure that I wasn't too overwhelmed with work or in the opposite case, to ensure that I had enough work to keep my busy. My manager also ensured that I got to meet my personal goals. It was also great to be starting at the same time as so many other interns - we had weekly virtual socials together. It was overall a great experience.
We were given our own projects to work on, so we were doing real work from day 1. I also had the chance to discuss with many full time employees at the company to understand what their roles were like.
Each week we had a "Leadership Series" where a member of the company leadership team (Including the CEO) would meet with the interns for a discussion about their job role and their thoughts on the company culture.
This internship has led me to apply to a full time role in analytics.
Everything Else
This is a salaried internship.
Each week we were given the opportunity to talk with members of the leadership team. I also had many 1:1 meetings with members of my company analytics team during my internship.
