About You
It was well planned and gave good information on various topics and tips and tricks for women of minority backgrounds and how they can grow in certain industries. Although a lot of insightful information and talks were given it would be easier to have shorter days over a longer period of time in order to process and not feel overwhelmed with information. It is a great experience to have from a company and a great opportunity presented overall.
They outline the importance of learning and growth within yourself as a person. All team members, were included and welcoming to everyone. There was no pressure to anyone all words were words of wisdom and encouragment from a genuine and honest point of view. The inclusion is amazing and i feel everyone in the group including myself feels like we were heard and appreciated in times of discussions and Q&A sessions. All in all I felt valued as i work on my journey towards growth.
There was a large amount of detailed guidance and insight of experiences from everyone who was helping. The guidance was honest and they were always open to talk about anything they were asked about. I learnt many tips and trick on how to approach interview situations, how to network and be yourself and how to deal with situations you might face as you head into your future. A very informative and genuine, heartfelt guide to young BAME women in the workforce.
The skills such as knowing how to network will be a great asset in helping find connections for my career as a degree does not mean you are guaranteed a job but they skills we were taught in this virtual experience by the FCA such as STAR methods and how to handle assessments have helped my knowledge in these situations and how I can carry them on into the workplace and when looking for jobs beyond university.
The Company
It was greatly structured. Everything was planned out there was information given well in advance to prepare us. There were many useful documents to hep us and everything was on time. although they were long sessions everything was planned from the talks to the breaks.
Very relaxed and I believe this is a great way to ease the tension and encourage the memebers who participated to speak and feel free to give their opinions and ask any questions. The organiser [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] helped ensure us that we are free to ask anything and made the whole experience very comfortable and welcoming along with all the team members who came to talk to us and give us their insightfu experinces.
They helped build my network and give me this opportunity which is great to add to my career skills and they gave me the opportunity to participate in an assessment and give me valuable feedback which I can use in the future going along my career.
Although no specifics were given about the kind of work that is carred out I understood a general atmosphere of how broad the work is and how the company helps you grow and gives you a stable job and how welcoming they are to everyone. Thedepartments are a wide range and they made us understand how open minded, diverse and engaging people in the FCA can be by creating this programme in the first place.
The experience itself is an understanding of how much the comapny cares unlike many others in the business industry the FCA took their time to look for and empower minorities of any background they showed that they care.
I knew where I want to land in my career before hand but this experienced helped me look deeper as to how I will get there and the wider options that are available to me because of all the experiences the team members had.
Everything Else
It was virtual experience I was given this opportunity and there is nothing to reimburse.
The whole experuence was an opportunity to meet employees and network as I have built on my connections through this experience.
The team memebrs were all welcoming to connect with and were happy for us to connect with them and ask them about their experiences.
A brod approach to other activities there was more help into how we could handle different situations outside of work and what we should get involved in rather than specific programmes.
Yes it is a great experience and an informative one that I believe everyone should experience it is a great benefit in helping us in the future with careers and the world in general.
