About You
I loved the variety of work I was given in the short time period we had. I was able to go out of the office on multiple occasions as well as completing short tasks in the office. The team was so welcoming and made me feel at home straight away.
I felt valued by all the team members, especially the graduates who we're very welcoming.
Any time I had questions people were happy to help! My graduate mentor was particularly helpful in answering all questions and concerns.
The summer scheme made me more confident to talk to clients and undertake tasks by myself. It was great to learn more about surveying from people with experience.
The Company
The insight was well structured, however at times there was not much relevant work to undertake. It could potentially be improved by giving hypothetical short projects to do during the time in the office.
The atmosphere in the office was great. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming and I never felt out of place. The young crowd meant that people were always willing to take me to lunch so I never felt alone.
The firm allowed me to go on multiple site inspections and visits to properties around London. My team helped me understand what to do at these visits and taught me valuable skills, both in and out of the office.
Because I was able to complete so many different tasks and attend meetings and site visits, I was definitely able to understand the role at hand. I would have liked to have more in depth insight into certain sectors, but this was not possible in the time frame.
The culture is inclusive, friendly and professional. It would have been good if there were more activities organised out of the office, however due to corona virus I understand this is difficult.
As I'm from a non-cognate route this insight was very valuable in providing an idea about the type of work involved in surveying and project management. As there are lots of routes to go down, even within surveying, it can be difficult to know which route you would be most suited to, however the insight made it clear which was the best route for me.
Everything Else
Because of corona virus there were not any activities/ networking events, as there would usually be. However, at lunch there was opportunity to go with team members to eat and socialise.
N/A
No, we were not informed of activities that Savills employees can be involved in, as due to social distancing we were not able to organise activities.
Yes, I would recommend this insight to anyone looking into jobs in real estate, especially those from non cognate routes, who need to understand more about the kind of work involved.
