    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • I enjoyed it alot. The staff were extremely kind and welcoming and there was a good balance between challenging work and learning about the company. The virtual challenges we overcome with relative ease due to a very well thought out scheme. It was clear that making our internship placement an enjoyable one was very important to bp. The other interns were also great, it was a community of like minded individuals who were able to get on extremely well.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • BP clearly put a lot of energy and resources into making the internship happen online. This reflected how much they valued us, both as interns and also as potential future employees. There was lots of talk about BP's new direction and it was made clear that this would require new and different skills from the graduates they hire. I also had a superb manager who took lots of time out of his schedule to ensure a good experience.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • There was lots of support. This was not just from people who had been scheduled to help out prior to the internship but also individuals who came across us and wanted to give there help. This went all the way from new graduates to upper management. The company ethos of 'one team' was very much valued and upheld by all. Regular meetings as well as access to lots of BP's online resources meant I never felt unsupported.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I developed linked directly into my interests that I had stated when I applied to the company. Being able to work on things that were not only relevant to my course but also of interest to me was invaluable experience. This will help me to shape my career in the direction that I wish to go. Also, spending the time applying what I have learnt over the duration of my degree has helped put the knowledge I have acquired into a different context.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • The internship was well structured. There was a really good balance of between overall structure laid out by the company, this involved skills development and competitions between interns, and the structure supplied by managers and people responsible for me on a day to day basis. This meant there felt like there was a flexibility to the internship where I also had control over what I spent my time doing. It was done extremely well considering the circumstances.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • I could not fault the general atmosphere during my internship. Every individual I met was enthusiastic and helpful. The willingness of every employee to give there time to help me out, as well as check in on me, was brilliant. The company values felt as though they weren't just there to look good on paper. They instead formed the very basis on which employees were evaluated and as a result determined the atmosphere and made it an extremely positive place to work.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • People were willing to give up there time to discuss this, not just within my field of interest but also much wider. There was plenty of time given to explaining the graduate program as well as stories from individuals about their career progression. Despite the internship being online it did a good job of reflecting how people interact within the company and how it would feel to work there. This was extremely useful for deciding about whether i would work there.
