The Role
Really enjoyed the experience! Lots of interesting tasks to complete and the leadership series gave me insight into the lives of leaders.
My colleagues were largely my project team and were all other interns due to the pandemic. We worked really well together and everyone felt like part of a team and family.
I had 3 different mentors I could speak to on a personal level. I have had regular meetings with them and my mentors were very supportive and gave guidance on any topic area I was having trouble with.
Very busy when during the hackathon stages where I was a developer. It was a challenge because I wanted to get as much done as I can for the team. Other parts of the internship were a little less busy in terms of workloads. So when you are working its full 100% effort to get the task done well.
I was Scrum Master for my team so I had done have a relatively high level of importance in regards to most. I felt it wasn't just me as the leader of my team it was a much more collective responsibility through the projects
Definitely learned a lot about the payments industry and working together as a team. Agile frameworks and the leadership series in particular. In terms of training, there was online access to thousands of courses and there was also a tech series by the API teams at Visa who walked through the developer platforms. It was the most you could expect from a pandemic like environment.
The Company
Not Applicable was an Online experience.
There were some technical difficulties initially such as Teams setup but this was rectified very quickly. Choosing teams for hackathons could have been difficult for some as you had to actively find other interns.
Lots of courses and demos for the technical products that Visa offers. As well as series on how to improve soft skills.
