The Role
The internship was amazing. Not only we were provided with training courses at the beginning of the internship, that helped us get around our first weeks on the desk. After that, I was given a project to work on during the full duration of the internship, giving me the opportunity to really delve into my work subject. I really liked this way of doing it, as my work really helped the team and was used by the team.
The team is great in making you feel valued. I had meetings set up each day with different people on the team, from analysts to PMs. This was absolutely great, to be able to discuss, exchange and hear from the experiences from various people, I wouldn’t thought at first I would have access to. In addition, at my presentation, more than half of the team was present to listen to what I had researched and ask questions on the subject which was absolutely great.
I had recurrent meetings with my manager to walk me through my project all along, and received several feedbacks both during and after the internship, which was great. In addition, we are assigned a “buddy” who for me was an analyst, that I could contact whenever I needed guidance. Also everyone on the team was very eager to help, give of their time, share their knowledge and experience to help me better understand their work and the industry.
Normal working hours.
As I worked on my project individually, a lot of responsibility was on my shoulders. This made it extremely interesting and it showed that they trusted me with what I would provide. Even though it was an individual project I have received enough guidance from different people on the team to put together my presentation and shape it in a way that it could benefit the team. I felt my project would be helping the team in the future and that was great.
The Company
The atmosphere was absolutely great. Senior people were very accessible and communicated a lot with more junior people as well. It was kind of a flat structure which made the atmosphere really great. Unfortunately, Covid made it difficult to have a lot of social events, but people have told me that in normal times they tend to be very social, which I find really great. Also we had social zoom meeting to keep in touch which was great.
