The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, I wish it had been under different circumstances so that it could have been fully enjoyed whit work drinks/events and being the initial length of time.
I felt that the work i did was valued and i wasn't just given mundane jobs to do. However, i wish i was given more work ans i often felt i was not doing much despite asking plenty of times for more work to do (I do understand that people were often too busy to give me work)
When i did not understand anything i was given lots of support and guidance, i never felt like the questions i was asking were silly or not important. My seniors explained things very well when i was unsure of an area and spent time trying to help me understand.
When i was given tasks often some of them were lengthy which i really enjoyed getting stuck into, but when i diminished these there was not really a sense of knowing what my next job was - there wasn't much continuity between the work i was doing either. I feel an improvement of this internship would be to have a structured plan of work that the interns can work through instead of having to constantly ask if anyone has any work for them to do, as often i felt as though i was pestering trying to get work.
I was given tasks including excel spread sheeting which i think did have responsibility to them, however these were juts tasks here and thee. Which i do underrate as there is only so much I could do in a week and only so much reputability i could be trusted whit.
Although sometimes i did not have much work to do, the work i did do will really help me launch into my degree as i have never studied real estate before. So the skills i learnt and the research I did while here has given me an insight into my degree and has made me excited to start!
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was extremely friendly, and made me feel at ease.
I had two seniors who were mainly giving me work, however they did not have an idea of work throughout the week i could get on whit, it was more just a one by one basis of work they could find. So if it was more organdie I think i would have learnt a lot more.
Whenever i asked a question they would spend the time explaining even if they were busy, this made me feel grateful that they would do this. So i do think they wanted me to develop on my skills.
Really appealing, i want to join onto the grad scheme
The Culture
Yes, given the circumstances i think we did well. We went for lunch, dinner and Fairbanks throughout the week
very expensive to socialise as drinks are very expensive in the centre of London
good time to go to the pub but obviously can;t go out due to COVID
not with my team, but with the interns yes
