The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Savills in the Bristol office. Everyone in the team has been so welcoming and helpful and keen to share their insight into the job. This has given me a flavour of what everyone in the team does even if I haven't specifically been with them. Everyone has made sure that I've been kept busy and have made sure I've been able to get out of the office at every opportunity possible, which has made for an exciting week!
Everyone in the team has been very welcoming and friendly and made it clear from the beginning that I could ask them any questions, however stupid they seemed, which made me feel very comfortable. They have all been keen to share their experience at Savills with me and have taken the time to talk to me about what they do within the team. I have always been made to feel included in conversations even if they havent been about the tasks I have been carrying out.
I was given a lot of support and guidance as my supervisors made it clear that I could ask them any questions and they would be happy to help me. This meant that I felt comfortable asking them when I needed help with a task or more insight into the job. They have been very helpful when I have asked about applying for job and have been really helpful in giving me their advice and tips.
I think I have had just the right balance with how busy I have been. I have never been bored sat at my desk but also haven't felt swamped with work and under pressure. The team have tried to get me out of the office wherever possible to give me a flavour of what their day to day work is like and an insight into what jobs they are each working on which has been very interesting.
I think I was given the right amount of responsibility. I have had tasks to work on but haven't felt under pressure.
I have been explained things which will give me a head start and help me with my upcoming modules when I go back to uni. I also think I have become more confident during my time here which will be invaluable. I think if I was here for more than a week I would definitely develop many more skills than I have been able to so far and this would assist with my studies even further.
The Company
the atmosphere in the office was happy and lighthearted but everyone was still hardworking. It is clear that everyone very much enjoys their job and loves working for savills. This atmosphere made me feel comfortable and enhanced my whole experience over the week that I was there. This would be the kind of office atmosphere that I would want to work in in the future as I think it makes for a happy and healthy work environment.
the internship was very well organised. Graduate recruitment had organised multiple zoom presentations from various departments to give us an insight into the company as a whole. These were very interesting. I was always kept busy with tasks and trips out of the office and this organisation of my time meant that i got a very good insight in what everyone does on a day to day basis. I was also able to listen in on webinars from people outside of savills.
Everyone was keen to give guidance and offer any advice they could that will help me now and in the future.
The Culture
there are a lot of pubs, clubs and bars in the area around the office, although not all were open due to covid.
