The Role
I absolutely loved my internship. Even though it was virtual everyone I worked with was so nice and helped me so much. Couldn’t recommend bp more as a company.
I felt so supported. My supervisor met with me everyday, even tho he was in the US, and gave me all the support and guidance. My line manager would reply to my emails so fast and again have me so much support. Everyone in my team also made me feel so welcomed.
As stated before I was given so much support and guidance. They trusted me a lot with my project but also helped me where I needed it. They also but me in contact with other employees to allow me to network.
I was working 8-6 most days. When I was busy and had to practice for my final assessment etc. I worked longer but never past 10pm.
I had my own project that I could really make it my own. They helped me but I got to work for a team and deliver a great project and felt my work did make a difference in bp.
I think the placement really improved my presentation skills as well as my confidence, which will help going into my degree. I also learnt a lot of new technical skills I can use in my masters!
The Company
So it was virtual, however, the atmosphere in all meetings was friendly and positive. I loved working with people all over the world.
I actually can’t believe how well they did it to say it was virtual. HR were amazing!
All my team gave me a lot of time. They allowed me to develop in areas of my choice and put me in a position to do this, giving me required resources.
We were told we should hear if we were converting our internships in 2-3 weeks. However it is now 4 full weeks and I have had no communication. However the graduate scheme does sound very good.
The Culture
We had 3 different social committees. I was apart of one and we organised socials to get to know the other interns. There was also a intern family scheme with grads to integrate us.
Worked from home
N/A
Yes! As I said there were many social committees and we had the option to creat committees if we wished to do more! Also a lot of opportunities to network.
