The Role
It was a very enjoyable and stimulating insight programme. From the morning activities until the evening ones, I felt that that I learnt a lot whilst also meeting great people.
Everyone present made me feel very comfortable and were friendly. The senior members of HSBC were very approachable and kind and they answered any questions I had whilst also providing very helpful advice.
If I didn't understand a task, I could ask anyone around me for guidance which made this Spring Insight Programme a great one.
As the HSBC Spring Insight Programme was only 3 days, it meant that a lot of activities were packed together. However, this wasn't daunting at all as the tasks given everyday were enjoyable and exciting making it a very fun programme.
In terms of responsibility, when put in to groups it was each individuals responsibility to complete the given task. Therefore, I was given quite a bit of responsibility as the work I carried out helped play a part in the entire group project or presentation.
I learnt an incredible amount from how to read the FT to how to network with professionals and many more. This will definitely help me in my degree and beyond because the skills I developed were not only for the Spring Programme, but they were life skills which can be used on a daily basis.
The Company
Very lively, bubbly and exciting.
It was very organised. The 3 days ran smoothly and the timetable given was very accurate.
I was given the opportunity to speak up and engage in many presentations and conversation. I believe that HSBC invested greatly in me as I took a lot from the Spring Programme.
Company Parties/Events
HSBC is a great place to work because of their delightful culture and work ethic.
The Culture
It was fun to be around all the students.
Canary Wharf is quite expensive in terms of living in the area, but socialising or going out for food/drinks is not too bad.
I didn't get to experience much nightlife, but I have heard that it is quite awesome!
There were opportunities such as going out for networking drink.
