The Role
I really enjoyed my placement year at Hays, I was given a a lot of responsibility and felt like I was part of the team straight away. The workload was quite high but this meant there was never a boring moment and I felt very involved. Except they did make me redundant during coronavirus instead of putting the interns on furlough...which wasn't great.
My colleagues were very friendly and the office environment and other teams were mostly friendly.
I was supported with everything I did and had great guidance from my manager. If I ever needed help I could always ask.
On a daily basis I was very busy I was either always on the phone, answering emails or working on specific projects
A lot of responsibility right from the start, and toward the end I started leading my own projects which was great.
I developed many skills and my confidence increased throughout the year. My approach to work has changed and if anything it has made me work harder and I can now apply this to my final year at university.
The Company
Atmosphere was great the office is definitely not quiet and is very loud which created a friendly environment to work in.
The intern programme is large and very well structured, we all had a specific timeline to work towards with clear concise goals for the year
All interns have a weeks training at the beginning and I was taught really well with skills I can transfer into over roles
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
There is a clear pathway for future employee prospects
The Culture
Yes there is a good social scene, with regular team drinks etc..
I am originally from London so the cost of living was low other than travel
Good London city nightlife
Not really that I was aware of
