The Role
I truly enjoyed the experience as it provided me with great exposure to M&A activity. I was a part of the Healthcare M&A team with the other three interns. We did a lot of power point slides as well as updating the team's database on past transactions in the healthcare industry. On top of our work with the team, we had an individual project where we had to present a company profile from the healthcare industry.
I was given valuable feedback on my work and most of my work was incorporated into the documents that were sent to the clients. We were also given a feedback for the individual project for us to be able to do it better in the future. The feedback culture made me really valued as an individual in the team and had made the learning experience really enriching. At the end of the internship, I was able to see the end result of my work being utilised by the team.
The people in the team were always available for us to ask questions and they were very open to having a conversation with the interns.
Starting at 9 am and finishing by 12 am or 1 am, we had weekly team meetings where we were updated on the live transactions that were happening across the team as well as the team's wellbeing. We then continued to do our work and sometimes we had calls throughout the day to catch up on the work we were doing. We were able to take breaks for lunch and dinner throughout the day, only one week I had to work on a weekend
I was given a lot of responsibility throughout my internship, I felt like I was a part of the team rather than just an intern
I was able to learn how the financial concepts I was taught in university were used in live transactions happening in the industry.
