Spring Insight Programme Review

The J.P. Morgan Spring Insight Programme was outstanding, inspiring and educational. Each day was filled with a plethora of different presentations and Q&A sessions which allowed me to fully grasp the culture at the Investment Bank and its operations. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to have all of my questions answered, as well as the additional Panel Events post programme. This made me feel as if I was able to truly connect with the firm, despite the Covid-19 situation. I realised that J.P. Morgan would be the perfect place for me in the future as each day would bring a new round of excitement!

I felt that I was valued at every stage of my application with the firm, as well as on the Spring Insight. I liked how all of the professionals on the Spring Week, took their time to thoroughly answer any of my queries. This led me to believe that J.P. Morgan values its employees as well as its Insight Students. From this, I know that a future at the firm would be perfect for me, as I know that I will be valued at any stage of my career at J.P. Morgan.

Each day provided a thorough understanding of the Investment Banking industry and the opportunities that J.P. Morgan had to offer. This allowed me to gain a much better understanding of the different divisions within the Investment Banking Division itself, so that I was able to then continue my research, post-programme. Furthermore, during Summer Internship Presentations and Graduate Panel Events, I could comprehend life as an Analyst at the firm. This guided me to confirm my interest in J.P. Morgan!

I was able to gain a plethora of information regarding Investment Banking. This will assist me in the world beyond my degree as I will use it to guide my path into a certain area of the Investment Banking Division, that I realised I find most interesting! The skills of communicating with others (despite online) will assist me in both my degree studies and future career, as I thoroughly believe that my networking skills across online calls improved over the course of the week.

The insight's structure was definitely one that allowed my knowledge about J.P. Morgan to build in an excellent way throughout the course of the week. The start of the event began with fascinating insights into the operations of the Financial Industry. This then zoomed into specific areas itself, giving me a depth and breath of understanding across the field. The event then ended with wonderful presentations by members of J.P. Morgan's divisions. I found this extremely useful for applying my theoretical knowledge to life at the firm.

The general atmosphere was one that was highly productive and exciting at all times. The speakers across the event were so engaging that I came away from the week feeling motivated to continue my path with J.P. Morgan! I felt a constant sense of enthusiasm and encouragement. This is exactly the atmosphere that I would love to surround myself with in my future career. Thus, the insight further confirmed how impressed I was with J.P. Morgan.

I believe that the firm invested so much time into my development across the course of the insight. Even post-programme, additional Panel Events were organised which definitely gave me a deeper understanding of working in different divisions at J.P. Morgan itself. From this, I gained personal training towards my next steps after the programme. I was able to gather the right resources from J.P. Morgan events, which I could continue to attend even after the Insight.

Not only were theoretical sessions included, but also the Insight included a variety of Q&A sessions with professionals from every division at the firm. This included the Investment Banking Division, Global Markets, Asset Management, Technology and Philanthropy and much more. Although I knew that I was most interested in the Investment Banking Division, I found that all of the other talks so helpful in gaining a more well-rounded experience of any of the full-time roles at the firm.

I was extremely impressed by J.P. Morgan's company culture, even before attending the Spring Insight. This was emphasised while attending the programme. I realised that even though the event was online, the company culture still came across strongly. This shows the strength and power of the company in radiating its values even across online calls. As someone who finds the culture of any firm vital in deciding the potential of a future with the firm, I here realised that J.P. Morgan' culture matched my values and ethics too. Thus, I believe that this would be the perfect place where I would be able to fit in very well with all other employees!

From enhancing my foundations in the Investment Banking industry to grasping the company culture first-hand, I could immediately decide that a future career path at J.P. Morgan is one that I will continue to strive towards. Thus, I can continue to work hard towards a future with the firm as I understand that this will be an excellent place for me to learn first-hand from a plethora of successful employees! Thank you very much for all of the insights!

Due to Covid-19, this event was all online. I was still able to gain a depth and breadth of knowledge over the course of the week and there was no need for me to be paid or reimbursed any expenses! Overall, I think that the event was still excellent and inspiring at all times. There were still so many opportunities for me to interact and network, while having my questions answered by any of the employees at the firm!

Despite the Covid-19 situation, there were still many opportunities for networking and meeting other employees. This was right from the start of the event where we were able to type in any of our queries into the chat box and professionals at J.P. Morgan were able to answer them! Following on from the main first week, there were then Panel Events. This was excellent for meeting employees from a range of different backgrounds and experiences to gain a better understanding of their roles!

Yes, in person events were not feasible due to the pandemic, however I do not feel that this took anything away from the networking and social event opportunities. I was still able to ask all of my questions. Furthermore, I could connect on LinkedIn with employees after the event and gain a better understanding of their daily roles. All of the J.P. Morgan team kept in contact with us prior, during and post programme which was excellent!

I was able to learn about the excellent Business Resource Groups at J.P. Morgan, which provide an opportunity to network and connect outside of work. I think this is a fantastic way of getting to know other individuals at the firm. I also gained a better understanding of the culture at the firm and the various philanthropic activities that J.P. Morgan takes part in. As someone who find ESG ventures incredibly important, I think that this is a way of getting involved in activities that will benefit the whole of society outside of work.

I definitely would recommend this insight to a friend as I know how inspiring and educational the whole of the programme was! I felt that I learnt so much regarding so many different lines of business and it made me realise that J.P. Morgan was the perfect firm for me. Such a powerful Spring Insight Programme has to be recommended to other like-minded individuals as it was an excellent experience in such a variety of ways!
