About You
I really enjoyed the Spring Insight at Rothschild. It consisted of a range of activities from networking sessions to social activities as well as a project at the end which gave an in-depth insight into M&A advisory. It was excellently structured and organised and I particularly enjoyed the focus on an all round experience despite the virtual limitations; I was assigned a buddy and given a number of opportunities to meet my peers and other employees at the firm. I would thoroughly recommend this experience to anyone applying.
Unlike other spring weeks, Rothschild made a conscious effort to give us meaningful and stimulating work in the form of the presentation, which was presented back to senior bankers. This was coupled with small group networking with bankers, allowing us to gain an insight into the work at the firm, as well as personal development and skills sessions to help us progress our careers and develop both personally and professionally.
Every intern was assigned a buddy which was one of the most fantastic resources that was provided. Although busy, my buddy Harry and mentor James were both extremely helpful and open to answering any questions I had. This was definitely an excellent way to gain an insight into the firm but also advice about career progression and a deeper understanding of the work involved in investment banking.
The project developed a number of key skills including organisation, diligence and the ability to analyse and synthesise large quantities of information. These are all essential skills for any investment banker. Furthermore, the interview workshops were extremely helpful to prepare us for the conversion interviews ahead, as well as to give us guidance on how to prepare for summer applications.
The Company
There was an excellent balance of work, social and networking events that excellently replicated an in-person spring week despite virtual limitations. I applaud Ben St John and the HR team for an excellent experience and insight into the firm and the work that they do.
Everyone at the firm was extremely amicable, social and always willing to help. The senior bankers were insightful in their assessments of our presentations and this created a strong learning atmosphere which I valued throughout the week.
There were a number of networking, skills and training sessions throughout the week whcih helped to give us the skills we needed as well as develop soft skills to benefit us in our career paths and general lives.
The buddy system was perhaps the best insight into the firm, allowing us to gain an insight into the work involved and the culture at the firm.
Everything Else
There were plenty of networking opportunities through the buddy system, coffee chats with other interns as well as breakout rooms with more senior bankers. This was an excellent way to meet others on the spring week and learn more about the individual experiences at Rothschild&Co.
