    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really interesting work with really friendly people. I had a part to play in big deals and I was given a lot of responsibility!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues would always give me feedback on my work, and they would give me jobs that actually contributed to what the team were doing. I felt very valued and as if I was having a positive impact on the team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was called by my manager at the beginning and end of every working day to discuss the tasks for the day and discuss what I had achieved that day. I felt as though I was able to contact my team whenever I had any questions. Everyone was incredibly friendly and understanding.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were some days in which I had a lot on, but this was always recognised by my team. I liked having a lot on my plate, but I was never overwhelmed with work either.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility - I was contributing to real deals and also felt as though I was having a positive impact on the productivity of the team.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The main skill I will take away is the ability to handle multiple jobs at once with different deadlines. During university I am used to having one or two big projects and carrying on with them until the deadline. This experience helped me develop skills in juggling a number of different tasks with different deadlines all at once.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Friendly, relaxed and supportive.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was very well organised, a good balance between working with my given team, carrying out projects with the other interns, receiving lectures on different aspects of the business and also socials with the other interns and graduates.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The main form of personal training I received was from my manager, who would guide me through different pieces of work I was not familiar with.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • M&G has a friendly culture where a work-life balance is highly encouraged. Everyone I met on my internship was very friendly and supportive. I would really recommend applying for a role at M&G!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes. Although the internship was virtual, so I was working from home calling in on Microsoft Teams and Skype, I had multiple calls and socials online with the other interns and graduates.

  • N/A (Virtual internship)
