JP Morgan: A-Level Insight Day Review

The A-Level insight day at JP Morgan was extremely useful. It was a highly structured event which was a great introduction into the banking world, especially for pre-university students. The insight day was also a great chance to build my network with both participants of the insight day, as well as experienced professionals who took part in networking events. It was also a great opportunity to develop my own professional skills with a range of skills workshops.

At the event, I felt valued as a participant of the insight day. I felt valued at the firm as it felt the firm was truly investing in future talent. It was evident that the firm had spent a huge amount of effort and time into organising the event. This was particularly impressive given that was an event aimed at A-Level students, which showed how committed the firm was to the next generation of people joining the industry.

The event was highly structured and organised. In this regard, there was much guidance and support with introductory presentation sessions used to guide all the participants throughout the day. Throughout the day, at all points, there were people on hand to ask questions to, and gain support. The fact that there were sessions from a wider variety of divisions made it easy for all participants to expand their knowledge of the industry and build connections.

The insight day was instrumental in building the foundations for my future career. This day at JP Morgan was a great introduction into how a large global bank operates, which products it provides, and how it serves its clients. This gave me an idea about which direction to go in with regards to my career, and the skills workshop was particularly helpful, with sessions for presentation skills, a CV workshop, and group exercises, all skills which were instrumental for my degree studies and beyond.

The insight was a highly structured event. The day started off with an introductory presentation from the organisers and HR. This was followed by a series of presentations from different divisions including CIB, Sales and Trading, and Asset Management. Furthermore, there were skills sessions scattered throughout the day, with a CV skills workshop, a quiz, a group exercise. There were also networking opportunities throughout the day at lunch and break time, allowing participants to build their network.

The general atmosphere of this insight was extremely good. All participants were motivated and willing to learn, and the organisers of the event were extremely helpful, and willing to answer questions about the day. The group events also had a great atmosphere with everyone participating in group events with energy and motivation. The networking events were also great, with all participants willing to give up plenty of their time to talk to the insight day participants.

The insight day was a great opportunity to understand what a career at JP Morgan might entail. There were several sessions throughout the insight day which introduced the various divisions at JP Morgan including CIB, Markets and Asset Management. These sessions introduced what the working culture was like in each division, and further networking sessions throughout the day also enabled us to learn more about each division from the experienced professionals at the networking events.

The insight was a great chance to understand the company culture at JP Morgan. During the sessions, from HR, to front-office roles, the insight day enabled us to get an insight into why JP Morgan is a great place to work, and how it first and foremost serves its clients. We also had sessions which introduced the charitable and philanthropic work JP Morgan employees do, which showed how good a culture the firm had cultivated.

The content in this insight day was extremely instrumental in my future career path direction. This initial insight day before university gave me a good indication about what a career in banking would be like, and specifically where in banking would be most suitable for my skill set. It was good to learn about which roles required which skill sets, and which areas of the bank were growing. It was great to have this opportunity so early in my career.

There were several networking sessions set up throughout the event. These networking sessions were a great opportunity to meet seasoned professionals in the firm and learn more about the different divisions within the bank. It was also a good opportunity to understand the opportunities available at JP Morgan. Furthermore, at the end of the presentation sessions, there was an opportunity to ask questions and take down contact details to continue networking after the insight day had concluded.
