The Role
Incredible! It is true that I do prefer physical interaction - it seems to me that the team bonds better. However, given the situation with the global pandemic and the consequent virtual internship, I loved the way it was organised. J.P. Morgan managed to overcome the potential struggles that might appear when there are no real interactions. They enhanced human relationships and built a welcoming working environment.
One could think that because everything was done virtually, praise and recognition could not be as well expressed as in the office, through physical interactions (one can tell a lot from body language). Yet, because the firm encouraged everyone to give and ask for constant feedback, there was a continuous share of thoughts - everyone was aware that feelings had to verbalised in order for them to be clear. Thus, when someone did a good job, this was explicitly highlighted. Consequently, yes, I did feel valued by my colleagues.
We had several managers and supervisors: 2 managers: one more involved than the other, but these two were no as attentive as the Project Manager. Project Advisor: she was caring, supportive and motivated the team. She was clear in her messages, always spotted an opportunity for improvement and saw the best in everyone. She was a good leader, manager and advisor. Mentor: she was sharp, always knew what you need and felt before you even knew.
On average, quite busy, but this is because I loved the projects I was involved in, and thus tried to push myself further.
From my managers, it was all quite equal - we were all given the same amount of work, responsibility. However, I tried and organise other events, and thus, as I was in charge, more responsibility was added.
Perhaps not academically, as my degree is completely different to what I did during the internship. However, in terms of soft skills (presentation skills, communication, ...), I feel the internship helped me a lot.
The Company
I loved my team and managers. It was fun, easy and comfortable to work with them.
I could have not asked for more.
Speechless.
Company Parties/Events
I want to have a career at the firm.
The Culture
