The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my time at Co-op and the supplier that sponsored me. Had a fantastic year.
Felt incredibly welcome from day 1 and was never made to feel like just because I was an undergraduate my opinion didn’t matter. Everyone at the co-op is inclusive and opinions are valued.
Couldnt have asked for better managers. Nothing was ever too much for my manager, and the rest of the team. Everyone was incredibly helpful and I learnt so much. I always knew what I was meant to be doing and had regular reviews to ensure I was on track.
Some days were busier than others but I always had plenty to do. Even in the final 3 months when we moved to working from home I still had plenty of tasks to be getting on with. Being busy was great and it meant I learnt so much.
I was given a fair amount of responsibility on my placement. I liked the fact the co-op treated you as though you were a permanent staff member and not just a 3rd year uni student. It really gave me an insight into how a graduate role might look like and different responsibilities in this area.
Organisation, time management, learning to prioritise etc will be incredibly valuable for returning to final year and being able to manage the work load. I learnt and built on a huge range of skills that will be important beyond university as well. I hugely improved my confidence as well
The Company
A happy, positive environment. Everyone was welcoming and approachable.
Very well. The co-op have had the placement year scheme in place for a number of years and you can tell that it is very well organised and managed.
I went on a number of training courses which was incredibly beneficial and interesting. I’m grateful that the co-op paid for certain training even for placement students.

The co-op are a fantastic company to work for and I would recommend them to anyone
The Culture
Yes there are a number of other placement students and you get to spend time with them and know these both in work and outside of work.
I would say it was fairly priced for the location! Office is in central Manchester so great location.
Again central Manchester so plenty going on!
I didn’t experience this but I know other teams did have events outside of work.
