The Role
I really enjoyed my placement, the team that I worked in was very welcoming and was always willing to lend a hand if I needed it. The variety of work that I completed and help with was really great, as it meant that throughout the placement I was always kept on my toes and learnt new things.
My team members we always there for me, and were willing to help me improve. When contributing or completing work they always gave me feedback and let me know when I had a done a good job, so that was excellent from my colleagues.
I had regular 1-2-1s with my manager where I was able to discuss any issues that I may have faced, and were always willing to put in extra time with me and help me reach my potential.
I was always busy, no two days were the same. A variety of tasks were always on my plate, and whenever I thought I was nearing a period where I would run out of work, something else would come up to keep me on my toes.
From the outset I was given a lot of responsibility, I really appreciated it. It wasn't just ownership over one task, it was over a variety of different roles and tasks, from the placement projects to my daily work I was given responsibility.
The skills and knowledge I gained this year will help me hugely with my academic work as I now have a base and first hand experience of topics covered in my management lectures. It has also given me an insight into the working world and given me both soft skills through interpersonal relationships, as well as improving many technical areas such as my analytical ability.
The Company
The office was always cheery and a great place to work, I immediately felt at home in the office. Getting to know people form a variety of teams was easy and I have friendships that will last long after my placement has finished.
The Placement Team did an excellent job of organising everything and ensuring that a support network was there for us and guided us through any difficulties. The mentor and buddy system were also excellent.
I had real product ownership and knowledge which meant that I was on the path to succeeding in the office and work environment as my knowledge grew. I was encouraged to attend development sessions in a variety of topics too to expand my understanding.

I would love to work for TUI again.
The Culture
The social scene was great for students in Luton and in the office beyond the placements everyone was very friendly and got to know people outside of the office easily through Christmas parties and trips to the pub.
The cost of living was good, the salary we were paid has meant that I was able to live comfortably and have money saved for my final year and beyond for travel opportunities.
The nightlife was good, especially being so close to London it meant that an event was easy to get to.
There were several social clubs that could be joined, from running to baking. It was easy to get to know people and if you wanted to set up your own social activities the company would be more than happy to help set it up and get it underway!
