The Role
I really enjoyed my time at Nissan and gained great experience and responsibility!
I felt really valued by my team as they trusted me and gave me the autonomy to work on tasks/projects myself and believed I would do my job well.
I was given excellent support by my mentors throughout the course of my placement and they really valued my development during this time.
I was mostly busy however like most jobs this fluctuated at different times of the year!
I was given a lot of responsibility to carry out daily tasks and organise my own projects/jobs which I really enjoyed.
Completing a placement year has really helped me be more organised and motivated in my final year! It is also enabled me to realise what I want to do with my future career.
The Company
The atmosphere with my team was brilliant! Everyone was really friendly and willing to help if I had any questions. As it is a big office it was hard to get to know everyone but everyone was approachable if you needed anything.
My scheme was well set up and there was a plan of action for the year which was great! I also had the opportunity to get involved in additional tasks throughout the year.
My mentors were great with helping in my development and I also got an appraisal half way through my scheme which helped reflect on how I was doing.

I would definitely love the opportunity to join Nissan’s graduate scheme as I enjoyed my time as a placement.
The Culture
I made some great friends with fellow placements and colleagues within my department! We had placement nights out, department nights out and Christmas events.
As I am a student in Newcastle I lived there and travelled to Sunderland each day by car. The living costs are affordable and student nights out can be very cheap.
I’m not sure what the night life is like in Sunderland but in Newcastle which is close by there is a lot of choice for nightlife and it’s cheap.
It depends on what you are looking for, whether it is sports related or night life I think there is a lot to offer in the North East.
