The Role
Really enjoyed my placement people were really friendly and lovely and I got on with my team so well. Was nice as well to have a lot of other students you could speak to. Was boring at first as there’s a lot to learn and a lot of reading documents and compliance but after that it got a lot more enjoyable.
People really treat you as a normal employee rather than a student which was nice as you feel like part of the team.
Had monthly 1:1s with supervisor and weekly team meetings. There were also monthly drop in sessions available with our HR contact so you could speak with her if needed.
Was sometimes hard to balance uni work with full time working. You never had to take work home with you.
I had a lot of responsibility over my placement but my experience was not normal as my team lost half our members in the space of a few months so I had to take on more than a usual student. However that gave me a good chance to learn more.
It wasn’t really useful for my degree as it is very specific work to rb but it was really useful in experience working full time and how to work in the real world.
The Company
Really good atmosphere in the office we were always chatting and before lockdown we were able to hot desk so it was nice to get to speak to different people all the time.
Well organised as there were a lot of us we could do group activities like training. It was less well organised in terms of projects because you needed to balance it with urgent work.
Really good training was always offered, practical training was always on offer and we had extra training just for us YII students on other things like emotional intelligence.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Appealing as are a great company to work from but the pay is not great compared to other companies unless you are quite high up.
The Culture
Great social scene always something to do and loads of events on including charity events and sports events. Our team was really social aswell as we had a lot of younger members so we were always doing things outside of work.
Hull is very cheap to live in.
Has good amount of bars but there are only a couple of clubs so depends where you like to go. Hull is quite small so this is expected.
Teams all did loads of activities outside of work and with the charity forum you have the chance to do loads of activities and even organise them so there was always something to do.
