    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • Despite the internship being cancelled due to Covid-19, I think Centrica did the best they could to provide an enjoyable alternative. I enjoyed the information sessions they ran surrounding the company and the broader industry, and the highlight for me was the Excel training session with a current graduate due to the one-on-one nature.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The people running the virtual experience made it clear that they were contactable at any time so we could clarify any doubts which made me feel valued.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • I don't think a large amount of guidance or support was required during the experience, but they were more than happy to provide it when requested.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The most useful part of the experience was the Excel training session as it helped develop my skills for the purpose of data analysis. The follow-up task was useful opportunity to showcase my skills and the prompt feedback we received was also very useful. I frequently refer back to the Excel training document to refresh my memory and I'm sure it will remain a valuable tool in the future

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • We were notified when the information sessions would occur well in advance which allowed us to reschedule other commitments if necessary.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • I think everyone understood that it was a difficult situation and tried to make the best use of it. People did not hesitate to ask questions during the information sessions and in general the atmosphere was good.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The Excel training session was the only personal training offered, and while it was very useful I would have liked to see more.

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I feel like I have a better understanding of what a full-time role at the company would entail, but a lack of hands-on experience means I still have doubts as to the day-to-day activities.

    3/5

  • 9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The company culture was portrayed well in the information sessions, it appears to be a supportive and inclusive culture.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I was already relatively certain that I wanted to work in the Energy sector, and this reinforced my decision.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Company made a good will payment for the cancelled internship.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were no real opportunities outside of the information sessions. However, the employees encouraged us to connect with them on LinkedIn.

    3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Unfortunately there was no real opportunity for networking and social events, which is understandable due to the Covid situation, but I think that a virtual social event could have been organised relatively easily.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We found out about some of the opportunities that are provided outside of work.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this virtual experience to a friend?
  • Overall I still think it was an enjoyable experience, despite being quite short, and it has provided me with some useful skills and knowledge that I hope to make use of in the future.
