About You
The virtual experience was obviously not ideal as a in person experience would be. However, I felt as if the Centrica team made a continued and significant effort to keep us involved with the actions and future direction of the company.
I did feel valued at each virtual session and felt as if my contributions were listened to. Equally, I felt as if the company shaped future sessions based on the feedback they received from interns and this was therefore a beneficial process.
As interns, we received a small amount of guidance or support about improving our skills.
I don't believe the sessions developed any skills or imparted any information that will be relevant in my degree studies or beyond.
The Company
I would say that the virtual experience was not well-structured or thought out - the sessions rather happened on an ad-hoc basis.
The team were all very friendly, open to chat and supportive. There did not seem to be a hierarchy between 'us' and 'them' and we were encouraged to ask any questions.
The company did not spend time investing in us.
This was a main part of the discussions - there were many guest speakers which helped us understand what a full time role with the company or firm would be like. Equally, many of the current grads led the sessions and offered an insight into their day to day role.
Very helpful in helping us understand the company culture.
The company were very clear with the joining process for the next graduates and how our career could be shaped within the company.
Everything Else
I was paid well for the level of engagement required for these sessions.
There were opportunities to meet other employees of the firm, but not a significant chance to network or engage with them on a 1 to 1 basis.
There were no networking or social event opportunities.
Yes, we found out about the sports, volunteering and other extra-curricular activities that employees get involved with and that Centrica actively encourages.
I would say this virtual experience was average.
