About You
I thought it was very insightful because I got to hear from a variety of people at Dentons (e.g. partner, grad recruitment, trainees, future trainees)
Because the cohort for the Insight Day was quite small (I think there were only around 30 participants?), I felt like I was able to engage much better with other participants as well as the Dentons representatives.
I thought there was a good amount of support, especially when it came to the trainee's inputs during the negotiation exercise.
I definitely learnt more about the firm and what they look for in an application through the workshop. I also got to develop negotiation skills through the group exercise and I really enjoyed this.
The Company
It was well-structured on the day itself, but I would have liked to be given a bit more information about the flow of the event beforehand, such as a timetable and the names of speakers who would be present.
Really good! I thought everyone was really enthusiastic and I had a great time.
I think the firm has invested quite a bit of time by dedicating so many Dentons representatives just to 'serve' a relatively small cohort of participants. They also provided a really stimulating negotiation exercise.
Whilst I thought I did learn more about the firm from the partner presentation, I don't think I was able to get a proper understanding of what it would be like to work at the firm. Although, I understand it is difficult for these things to be conveyed through Zoom. I think a vacation scheme would provide more in-depth insights into this, which is why I am keen on applying.
All Dentons representatives were pretty uniformed in their opinions about the company's inclusive and polycentric culture, which I think is a quite unique feature of Dentons.
This event definitely reinforced my interests in the firm and I am looking forward to applying to Dentons for a vacation scheme to hopefully gain further day-to-day insights of working at the largest law firm in the world.
Everything Else
Since this event was on Zoom, there was no need for reimbursement of any expenses.
The Q&As with the partner and future trainees were quite short. It would have been nice to get a bit more time in the future, but nonetheless I understand the time constraints of conducting things online.
I thought there was good opportunity to network and socialize with other participants through the negotiation exercise.
Some of the trainees briefly mentioned the sports teams that Dentons has to offer, but not much else.
Yes definitely. It was a great way to learn more about Dentons.
