The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year in the HR department at Eaton. I was given so many opportunities and responsibilities - it was a proper job!
I definitely felt like one of the team with my own responsibilities and tasks. I supported all my colleagues in any way I could, from taking notes in meetings to any admin support that was needed. I felt like my opinion was valued within the team, and we all worked together to tackle tasks.
If I ever needed any support and advice, my manager would be there. Particularly when i started my internship, i had no knowledge of HR and my colleagues were so patient with me and took the time to explain the different processes. As well as career support, my manager also helped with pastoral support, looking after all members of staff and keeping team morale - especially during the covid-19 pandemic.
My workload was challenging, but it taught me how to prioritise, do tasks quickly but efficiently and manage my time. If workload was too much for anyone in the team, we would support each other with delegation. I enjoyed having a comfortable but busy workload as it kept me on my toes and i learned so much!
