The Role
The placement was very insightful and provided an opportunity to get to know future colleagues.
I felt my skills were used by the firm to complete basic tasks that a new graduate would undertake.
Within the office all colleagues were very friendly and went above and beyond to make me feel included and a valued member of the team.
Obviously as an intern with only 6 weeks of experience on the job, there is a limited scope of tasks that I was able to complete. However, I feel that for the most part I was busy and had tasks on a daily basis.
I was given the responsibilities of a new graduate to the firm, had the opportunities and was encouraged by seniors to engage with clients when visiting sites.
The obvious being excel skills which really helped me in the months following my internship with my dissertation.
The Company
An easy environment to work in, also the opportunity to speak to all colleagues in the office.
Really enjoyed my internship and very glad to be joining BDO as a graduate. The only flaw in my opinion was the lack of communication/schedule of the away trips we had in Birmingham/London- it would have been better to be told about the social events and sleeping arrangements beforehand.
It was very obvious that the firm was willing to provide the interns with an invaluable and enjoyable experience. Colleagues invested time with me showing me how to complete tasks, the equipment provided was new and in great working order and the social aspects really allowed interns to form social circles.
I am looking forward to starting my career and hopefully progressing with BDO!
The Culture
Fun and social activities were provided on the away trips, and the computer chats/emails/yammer within the company enabled interns to keep in contact throughout the 6 weeks.
Commuting from a nearby town, was as expected.
A good social city.
Lots of opportunity, i was able to go ‘everesting’ as part of a CSR day, there are regular office socials and option of joining sports teams.
