The Role
I throughly enjoyed my time at Fisher German, it provided me with a wide range of opportunities.
I felt valued by a number of my colleagues within the team, who welcomed me with open arms.
Someone within my team was nearly always there to offer guidance and assistance and they were keen to ensure I felt part of the team.
Initially I spent a significant amount of my time based within the office and my workload was limited. However, once I had gained the trust of my supervisor I was given significantly more responsibly and this was reflected in the workload I was trusted with.
Once I had gained the trust of my supervisor I was given significant responsibility. I would often attend site meeting alone and have direct interaction with clients.
I have gained a significant amount of skills and knowledge throughout my placement with Fisher German which will defiantly assist me in completing my final year studies and beyond.
The Company
I initially struggled to settle into the office however, younger members of the office were really supportive and the firms HR team were excellent in ensuring I was settled and happy.
I had a short handover period with the previous placement student which was really beneficial. Communication was really good before I started and the firm helped me to find accommodation as I was moving away from home. It felt very well organised.
I was invited to a variety of graduate days and CPD days throughout my placement, helping assist with personal training and development. The firm invested a large amount of time ensuring that I gained everything possible from my placement year.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
I have been offered a graduate role within the firm and I am looking forward to returning in autumn next year.
The Culture
Within the office there wasn’t many other young people however, my line manager was really helpful in guiding me towards activities outside of work such as joining a gym and a young farmers club! I did enjoy graduate days where I interacted with other placement and graduate students, it was nice to see familiar faces!
Fisher German helped me to find some accommodation which was excellent, it was quite expensive however I felt comfortable and safe there as I was living alone! I joined a young farmers club, gym and netball team which helped me to make lots of friends in the area also. I joined a David Lloyd which was expensive however I enjoyed the atmosphere and therefore used the membership lots, I also had guest passes so could take friends I made on placement also!
The nightlife was good whilst I was on placement, I went on several nights out which was good fun.
There was a significant amount of activities to get involved in outside of work. I joined the gym and decided to sign up for a triathlon so I also attended a running club and went swimming weekly. I joined the local young farmers and attended weekly meetings, which helped me make friends and explore the area. I also joined a netball team and attended weekly training sessions and matches.
